Lennon,
Maria T Watch out, Hollywood! More Confessions of a So-called Middle Child
(Book#2) 213 pgs. Harper, 2014 $16.99
This is the continuing story of Charlie, a misunderstood middle
child who wants nothing more than to be popular and famous, but is constantly
tripped up by herself. In this book we see her ‘friend’ Marta, trying to get to
the Junior Olympics, while Charlie is trying to use her new found fame from the
last story, to break into the Hollywood acting scene. Will they both get their
wishes?
This is like Junie B Jones made it to Junior High, still
negative, selfish and growing into a full time liar. I hated spending time with
this character in the first book and can’t stand her still. I admit I was curious to see if she learned anything from the first book, but alas, no. Its just depressing
reading about a egocentric kid hating life, unless its all about her. I know the author was trying to
build a unique character, but quirky and just lame are too different things.
