Snyder, Laurel Swan:
The Life and Dance of Anna Pavlova Illustrated by Julie Morstad Chronicle Books, 2015. $17.99
PICTURE BOOK Content: G.
Anna went to the ballet one snowy night with
her mother. She would never be the same
after. Although Anna was smaller than
other dancers, she was determined to become a ballerina. After she is finally allowed into the ballet
school, she has to work hard and other dancers make fun of her for her small
size, but she overcomes it all to become a famous dancer. She takes her love of dancing around the
world and encourages others to dance.
This is an excellent and artistic biography of Anna Pavlova. The book covers from the time Anna found
ballet until she passes away. The
illustrations are captivating. There is
an author’s note at the end that gives more detail into Anna’s life. This is an inspiring story and a great
addition to your library.
