Fry, Jason The Weapon of a Jedi (Star Wars), 184 pages. Disney, 2015. $13. Violence: PG; Language: G; Mature Content: G.
A Luke Skywalker Adventure. After the Battle of Yavin, Luke was on a mission with Red Squad, when they all had to scatter in order to evade the Empire. Luke is supposed to regroup with the others, but he feels drawn to Devaron, a small jungle planet. There he knows he needs to head to the mysterious ruins, because something is waiting for him there. It is, however, his own guide that he may need to protect himself from in the long run. Luke is really just learning about the Force, but his teacher is dead. There must be a way for him to learn more about the ancient fighting power, because he is going to need it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this mini adventure set just after A New Hope. Fry does an excellent job of letting Luke be Luke and showing us how he managed to grow in the Force before he took off to train with Yoda.
