Pinkwater, Daniel. Bear and Bunny, PICTURE BOOK. Candlewick Press, 2015. $15.99. A bear and a bunny in the woods are the best of friends. The bear is certain the bunny is a small bear and the bunny is certain the bear is a big bunny. But it really doesn’t matter that they’re wrong. They sing songs about the things they see and take naps together. Bunny suggests that they get a pet. Something that you take care of and feed and it loves you. They discuss the pet possibilities and wander through the woods to see what they can find and eventually they come across the perfect pet. Oh, the pictures in this book! They are endearing, detailed, and soft. The story is sweet and kind. I could almost give it an essential rating, but the pet discussion becomes a little lengthy and some parts were a bit unnecessary. This is such a great choice for a book on friendship or for readers who love anything associated with animal characters. PRE-K, K-3- ADVISABLE. Reviewed by Shay, School Librarian
