Malone, Cheryl Lawton. Dario and the Whale, PICTURE BOOK. Albert Whitman and Company, 2016. This a the parallel story of Dario and his mother, who move to the shore each spring so she can work, and a mother whale with her new calf, who migrate up the shore. We see how Dario and the whale each play on their way and how they become friends. In the end, the whale has to continue on and they must say goodbye to one another. I thought this was a really clever way to demonstrate the migration of whales. It helped to picture things with the whale from a more human point of view. There is information about right whales presented in the back of the book. K-3- ADVISABLE. Reviewed by Shay, High School Librarian
