Velasquez, Eric. Looking for Bongo, PICTURE BOOK. Holiday House, 2016. A little boy can’t find his favorite stuffed animal, Bongo, one morning. He looks and looks and asks his family if they have seen it. Finally, he finds it and tells his grandmother that Bongo started out in his bed and then he couldn’t find him in the morning. The boy holds Bongo close that night and discovers that his sister sneaks into his room to steal him at night. I really liked the way this book started out. It does a great job of using bilingual language with Spanish and English and the illustrations are well done, but it ends incredibly abruptly. So much so, that it really makes it difficult to think about the rest of the story in a really positive light. PRE-K, K-3- OPTIONAL. Reviewed by Shay, High School Librarian
