Martin, David. Shh! Bears Sleeping, PICTURE BOOK. Viking, 2016. $16.99. This picture book chronicles a family of bears coming out of hibernation and enjoying the warm seasons. We see them play, swim, and eat and move through the year until winter is back again and they return to hibernation. After a cold winter when other animals were out and exploring, the bears wake up again. This is written in prose and has a really nice cadence to the text. The pictures are realistic and match the writing well. My only complaint is how long the winter is drawn out while the bears are sleeping. It got a little tedious for me and I think a younger reader would find it even more so. There is a strong set of bear facts listed in the back of book. PRE-K, K-3- ADVISABLE.
