Hunter, Anne. Cricket Song, PICTURE BOOK. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2016. $16.99. The reader follows the sunlight as it goes down at night. We see how young child goes to sleep with the window open and hears the crickets outside. We see other animals as they prowl or make their noises at night and move across the ocean a child living in a different place to see how she falls asleep too. This isn’t a terrible book, but the pictures are really muted, the text is lengthy, and I just can’t see younger readers being very interested. K-3- OPTIONAL. Reviewed by Shay, High School Librarian
