The Twins’ Blanket by Hyewon Yum- ADVISABLE
Yum, Hyewon. The Twins’ Blanket. 40 pages. Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group, 2011. $16.99. Inside cover: “ These look-alike twins share everything- toys, clothes, a room, a bed, and since the day they were born, a blanket. But as the twins grow bigger, the blanket becomes too small for both of them. Now it’s time for new blankets, new beds, and new quarrels: they don’t know how not to share. But when the lights go out at the end of the day, they still have each other’s hands to hold in the dark.” This story is told from the perspective of two five year olds. It perfectly depicts emotions and struggles between siblings, twins or not. The illustrations are simple and beautiful. Could be used in a unit on families, emotions, or sharing. EL (K-3). ADVISABLE. Reviewer: SL.
