Totally Human by Cynthia Nicolson - OPTIONAL

Nicolson, Cynthia Pratt.  Totally Human: Why we look and act the way we do.  Illustrated by Dianne Eastman.  $16.95.  Kids Can Press, 2011. PICTURE BOOK. Content, PG.  This book connects similarities between humans and the animal world.  It answers questions such as “Why do you feel ticklish?  Why do you shake when you are scared?” by connecting animals’ behavior to humans.  It is interesting and fun to read, but it is strongly Darwinism.  It doesn’t connect humans to animals and say they are similar, but it says that we do these things because we inherited them from our animal ancestors.  Fun illustrations.  EL (4-6)-OPTIONAL.  Reviewer, C. Peterson.
