Wrapped by Jennifer Bradbury - ADVISABLE

Bradbury, Jennifer Wrapped, 309 p. Atheneum, Simon, 2011.  $17.  Content: G (small amounts of danger).  Agnes Wilkins, 17, is tired of all of the fuss surrounding her coming out, but she is more than happy to attract the attention of Lord Showalter, a very handsome, very eligible bachelor,  who does seem to have his eye on Agnes.  When Agnes is invited to help unwrap a mummy at one of Showalter’s famous parties, she finds a little something that she manages to keep secret.  But is it a secret someone if willing to kill for?  Or is it a secret that brings a curse?  Whether a punishment from the ancients or a living, breathing foe, Agnes has a mystery to solve – and that is much more important to her than silk dresses and coming-out balls.   Look beyond the cover (not my favorite) to the drama, danger and romance.  Bradbury has spun a  Regency romance that doesn’t rely on “bodice-ripping” to make a splash.  This could draw on the popularity of the Luxe series or your mystery readers might pick it up.  MS – ADVISABLE.
