Palatini, Margie. Davis, Jack E. Goldie and the Three Hares. 32 pages. Katherine Tegen Books (Harper Collins Publishers), 2011. $16.99. Inside cover: “The Hare family is enjoying a peaceful day in their rabbit hole- until they hear a big THUMP outside their door. The thump is Goldilocks herself, who has fallen down the rabbit hole after being chased by the Three Bears.” Goldilocks has hurt her foot, and is forced to stay in the Hare house while she heals. She is NOT a very good houseguest. She is loud, obnoxious, and demanding. How are the Hare’s ever going to get Goldilocks to leave? We really enjoyed this book! The illustrations are fabulous. The story is intriguing and inviting. We love books that take a twist on well known fairytales. There is a great surprise ending when another well known character makes a visit at the end of the book! EL (K-3). ESSENTIAL. Reviewer: SL
