The recounting of this famous fable is done simply and creatively. There is nothing new about beginning or ending of the story of the Tortoise and the Hare. There is not a new moral to the story. The only thing new is this picture book by Ritchie and Noj is the addition of fun descriptive words such as leaping, bouncing and boastful and creative peek through windows and flaps. The illustrations are unique and captivating and action packed. We really enjoyed the retelling of this famous tale. Pre-K. EL (K-3). ADVISABLE. Reviewer: SL.
