Light, Steve Have You
Seen My Monster? Candlewick Press,
2015. $16.99 PICTURE BOOK
Content: G.
A little girl goes
around the fair looking for her hairy monster.
She looks at the carousel, pie judging table and other such places, but
doesn’t find him until the end. She
finds him as a stuffed animal that you can win for a prize and then she takes him
home.
Each page has a different shape that
is colored in on the otherwise black and white picture. The shape is named and shown in a little
black box in the corner of each page spread.
The pictures are cute, but the idea that the little girl is looking for
the monster when he is in plain sight on the page gets a bit tedious. Also, the types of shapes are more than just
triangles and squares, such as decagon, trapezium and quatrefoil.
EL (K-3)-OPTIONAL.
