An inclusion picture book history of the role of horses throughout history with a focus on how they were decorated/dressed in each culture. Some examples were Scythian Horses, Draft horses, Medieval horse, and Native American Horses. Each double page features one side with a couple of paragraphs of simple easy to understand text and a large bright illustration to go with it.
Horse lovers will be very interested in this book and find themselves learning quite a bit about history. The illustrations are varied, colorful, and full of movement. An interesting curriculum connection to the role of animals in the lives of humans. I think the focus on the decoration, rather than just the history, is an intriguing spin, sort of tricking the reader with a bright show, but then they secretly learn! What educator doesn’t find that handy!
