Peggy is a maid
of honor in the courts of the Prince and Princess of Wales, but she is more
than meets the eye because she is a spy keeping an eye on the unrest with the
Jacobians who are trying to unseat the king.
After the first book, Peggy has gained some experience and is enjoying
her position, but the past comes back to haunt her in the form of her betrothed
Sebastian. Sebastian has treated Peggy
poorly in the past, and Peggy’s heart belongs to Matthew, but will Sebastian’s
family be able to blackmail Peggy into marriage, or will Peggy uncover the plot
on her and her family.
Peggy is a fun
heroine to follow. She uses her
intellect to figure out ways to outsmart the political plots throughout the
book. There isn’t a lot of depth to the
character development, but the story moves along quickly and you can’t help but
cheer for Peggy. The mature content is
the threat of Peggy being sold to a whorehouse and the language is the use of
the F---, which is too similar to saying the real word.
