Gabby Duran and the Unsittables by Elise Allen and Daryle Conners -ADVISABLE

Allen, Elise and Conners, Daryle Gabby Duran and the Unsittables 192 pgs Disney Hyperion, 2015. $16.99  Content: Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: G Violence: G
Gabby Duran is a twelve year-old with a talent for babysitting, even those children who are extremely challenging, she simply see’s the best in all of them and plays with them. This catches the attention of Edwina, a mysterious woman in charge of finding babysitters for Aliens who live among earthlings. Is Gabby up to the challenge? You bet! But throw in a rogue organization set out to destroy aliens and Gabby may be in more danger than she can handle.
Gabby is such a fun characters and the author has done a great job creating a well realized set of friends and family for her. The plot gets wildly out of control out times, but once you have bought into the whole aliens babysitting thing, it makes sense. (Though why can’t aliens take turns babysitting each others kids?) I thought the ending was a tad confusing because they explain away a kidnapping with something that makes very little sense. I still think that elementary readers will love this book, the cover is outstanding and the pages are decorative and appealing with bright color borders. I see that the author has released a cover for book 2, this one doesn't end on a cliff hanger, but fans will be excited to read more of Gabby's adventures.
