Buyea, Rob Saving Mr. Terupt, 371 pgs. Random House Children’s Books (Delacourt) 2015. $16.99. Language: G: (0 swears); Mature Content: G; Violence: G.
The kids from Mr. Terupt’s class are now in 7th grade. They’ve changed schools, but have kept in contact with Mr. Terupt. With the elementary school less than a mile away, his classroom is the perfect headquarters for “campaign central” when both Lexie and Peter want to run for 7th grade class president. But when a party game turns awkward, the friendships suddenly change and the kids aren’t there for each other anymore.
Told in the alternating viewpoints of Luke, Jeffrey, Peter, Lexie, Danielle, Anna and Jessica, the third installment in the series addresses topics like bullying, health issues, maturity and fighting the school board. Mr. Terupt is very patient to let his last year students hang around at the elementary so much. Read them in order, buy if you have the other two.
