Crespo, Ana J.P. and the Giant Octopus, pictures by Erica
Sirotich. PICTURE BOOK. Albert Whitman, 2015. $17.
JP is a little stressed because his father is taking him to
the carwash which (in JP’s imagination) is occupied by a giant octopus.
JP is afraid until he remembers that he is brave and that the octopus is
less that he imagined.
This JP story does a better job of examining JP’s fear.
The being brave part still seems kind of short and the tips at the back
are again aimed at the parents. It would be great if JP and his parent
could model the behavior instead of just having the dog give JP a mask.
