Ferrell, Sean I Don’t Like Koala. Illustrated by Charles Santoso. Anteneum Books for Young Readers, 2015. $17.99. Picture Book. Content: G. Adam’s parents give him a new stuffed Koala bear. Adam thinks the Koala is “most terrible-terrible.” He has terrible eyes that follow him everywhere. Adam tries to tell his parents but they don’t seem to understand. No matter where Adam goes, Koala seems to be there with him…”closer than close”. Adam has a plan to get rid of Koala, but does not succeed- Koala is at home waiting for him when he gets there. Adam’s heart and mind are changed and Koala ends up being a hero and comforter instead of a nuisance in the end of the story. This is a fun book with beautiful illustrations. There is even a surprising ending when Adam’s parents react to Koala and Adam become inseparable. Pre-K. EL (K-3). ADVISABLE. Reviewer: SL.
