50 Things You Should Know About the Second World War by Simon Adams - ESSENTIAL

Adams, Simon  50 Things You Should Know About the Second World War, 80 pgs.  QEB Publishing, 2015.  $15.95  Content: PG.

This overview of World War II is broken down by major events each year of the war starting with an introduction to the events leading up to the war.  There is a map that highlights the major events of each of the following years: 1939-1945 and the following chapters have 1-2 pages that explain the highlighted events.  There are pictures, a paragraph explaining the main events, an interesting fact, and a couple of sidebars that highlight important parts of that event.

This was a fascinating read from start to finish and it gives a good foundation of what was going on during the war.  I think this book would be fun to assign to a class, giving kids different events to present.  The pictures and highlights make you want to find out more and the layout simplifies all the people and events.  Great addition to any classroom or library.
