Beedie, Duncan The
Lumberjack’s Beard PICTURE BOOK Templar
Books, 2017 $16.99 Content: G.
Big Jim Hickory is a
lumberjack who lives up in the forest by himself. He has his morning routine and is good at
cutting down trees. One night after a
long day of work, he is visited by an angry bird whose home has been cut down
during the day. Jim lets the bird move
into his beard. Eventually, two more animals
move in and Jim’s routine is disturbed.
In the end he decides to cut off his beard and let the animals live in its
warmth and he goes out to plant new trees.
This book is adorable. I love Big
Jim and the adorable little animals. The
illustrations are cute and the message that we need to save the trees is subtle
but well done.
