Clark, Rosalyn A Visit to the Fire Station 24 pgs. Bumba Books (Lerner), 2018. $20.
This
simple book explains to young readers what they will see if they visit a fire
station such as suits and helmets, fire engines, ladders and hoses, and more. Readers
find out why these items are important. Well chosen bright photographs on each
page help to illustrate the text on that page.
I
would add this to my library in a heartbeat because a fire station field trip
is something many of our classes do each year and this would be a great way to
prepare them. It could also work as a stand in for a field trip though I would
add a video and a fictional book to the mix as well. I do think students would
choose to read this book on their own as well as it being utilized by teachers.
