From River to Raindrop: The Water Cycle by Emma Carlson Berne –OPTIONAL

Berne, Emma Carlson From River to Raindrop: The Water Cycle 24 pgs. Lerner, 2018.  $20.

This book tells a very concise version of the water cycle. It uses the simplest words possible for the explanation but does use the higher vocabulary for the academic words for the steps of the water cycle like condensation. Includes beautiful photographs with a counter page of bright orange where the text is, to brighten things up –storms and all.

I hate to say this, being a librarian, but in the case of the water cycle, I think a video illustrates this topic better. This book was very plain and simple, but then again so are all the books on the water cycle shelf already in my library –and the teachers never check them out (they have their own) let alone the students. This could be used alongside Ice Boy By David Ezra Stein, which is a fictional version of the water cycle and is more memorable. Best for K-2.
