Zann, Tara Forest's First Home (Wild Child #1). CHAPTER BOOK. Imprint (Macmillan), 2017. $5.99. Content: G.
While on a camping trip, Olive encounters a wild boy in the woods. She convinces her father to let the child, Forest, come home to live with them. There's just one caveat: Olive must teach Forest to act like a regular boy instead of a wild animal. But with an impending visit from her very proper grandmother, and a brother who keeps sabotaging her efforts, taming Forest is starting to seem impossible.
Forest's First Home has a fun premise, the illustrations throughout are amusing, and Olive is a fairly sympathetic character. Unfortunately, the story itself feels hastily-written and lacking in dimension. Verdict: a cute but not-particularly-memorable read, and a so-so start to a new series.
