Staake, Bob. Beachy and Me, PICTURE BOOK. Random House, 2016. $16.99. Pixie is so lonely living in her lighthouse all by herself. Luckily for her a whale gets washed up on the beach one day. After she saves it and it goes back to the ocean, they swim together and do all sorts of whale-type things. Beachy has to migrate however and leaves Pixie on her own. But Beachy always ends up coming back to visit each year. I really wanted to like this book! The cover is done really well and the artwork is bright and detailed. The rhyming text got boring for me and I felt like the quality of writing didn’t match the quality of the pictures. K-3- OPTIONAL. Reviewed by Shay, School Librarian
