Dali and Disney: Destino: the Story, Artowrk, and Friendship Behind the Legendary Film by David A. Bossert-ADVISABLE

Bossert, David A., Dali and Disney: Destino: the Story, Artowrk, and Friendship Behind the Legendary Film. Pgs. 207. $40.00. INFORMATION.

Salvador Dali and Walt Disney weren’t just gifted artists, they were good friends. In 1946, they began working together on a short film that was supposed to be called Destino. Unfortunately, the project was halted due to Disney’s financial difficulties following World War II. More than 50 years later, Walt’s nephew, Roy Disney, uncovered the buried projects and brought it to life. This book tells its story, the art Dali and Disney employee, Robert Hench, created together as well as how Roy digitally brought it all together.

The included illustrations and paintings are amazing. The layout is well done and easy to follow. The included photos and other artwork is complementary of the text and truly brings to life the masterpiece started by Dali and Hench. Readers who are interested in animation or who enjoy Disney non-fiction will appreciate the depth and complexity this book gives to Destino.
