Sweet, Melissa Some
Writer! The Story of E.B. White, 143
pgs. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt,
2016. $18.99 Content: G.
This biography is about author Elwyn Brooks White. Born in 1899, his life was full of
opportunities as a writer as a journalist, essayist, poet, as well as a
children’s author. His love for nature
led him to write classics such as Charlotte’s Web, Trumpet of the Swans and
Stuart Little. He had a positive way of
looking at the world and was an amazing writer.
This book is interesting. E.B. White is easy to love and he has great
pieces of work. But what makes this book
amazing is the artistic format. Mixed
among the photographs and newspaper clippings, there are beautiful
illustrations and fantastic collages.
This book is so pretty, it feels like an experience when you read
it. This would be great for a biography
unit or an art class.
