Jin-Ho, Jung Look Up! PICTURE BOOK. Holiday House, 2016. $16.95.
From high above the city, a wheel-chair-bound girl looks down on a busy street. She longs for passers-by to look up, to notice her, but they do not -- until the magical moment when she finally earns someone's attention.
This book has few words or colors, but the illustrations are expressive and tell a fully story in themselves. The joyful ending is likely to make many readers smile. This would make a wonderful accompaniment to a lesson on inclusion, on varying perspectives/points of view, or on looking around and being mindful while walking instead of staring at a screen. What other things could people notice if they simply paid enough attention?
