A different format of graphic novel where there are three stories going on at the same time. In one story we follow a long yellow fish as it runs from a barracuda. In the second story we follow the barracuda and in the third story we follow a school of fish. Will the reader root for the hungry barracuda or the little yellow fish? Will a larger force intervene in their struggle?
I like the food chain lesson going on here, but its kind of a boring story. I wouldn’t pick this up from my library. I like that the author is being creative with the graphic novel format, but I think it would be SO confusing for younger readers. The illustration are bright and simple, featuring a large degree of facial expression given the subjects. Could be used in a lesson on perspective.
