Lara
Jean has fallen in love five times. Each
time she writes a letter addressed to the boy (that she never intends to send)
that spells out why she fell in love with them and why she no longer feels that
way. One day at school, Peter comes to
her and confronts her about what is in her letter, and she is horrified that
her letters have been sent out. In order
to convince one of the boys that she no longer has feelings for him, she has a
pretend girlfriend/boyfriend relationship with Peter and their relationship
becomes very confusing.
The private
letters make for a fun basis in this teen romance. The characters experience all the different
kinds of emotions found in young love. I
like this book because Laura Jean’s family is important to her and she tries to
do what is right. This book would be
fine for middle school except for the “F” words.
HS-ADVISABLE, MS-OPTIONAL.

Thanks for the heads up. When will authors start to realize that using foul language causes school librarians to think long and hard before spending tax payer money on the books, when others are available? Han has done some decent stuff, too. Shame.
