Arnie is a pet donut. His owner is an elderly man named Mr. Bing. Mr.Bing loves to bowl and
when his team is in a tournament, Arnie of course goes with for the event. Arnie knows all the bowling
balls and even contributes some of his sprinkles for luck. When Mr. Bing’s
rolls out some gutter balls, Arnie knows something is wrong and is determined
to figure it out.
I love this
author and was thrilled to see a book by her up for review. I think the cover
is darling and much of the artwork and text variation inside is fun and
entertaining. But I didn’t like the book at all. I can’t think of a single
student who is very interested in bowling, especially with a group of elderly
bowlers. I sort of felt like a reader would need to understand both bowling
terminology and scoring to get what was happening in the story and to appreciate the humor and jokes.
