Olivia’s class is
having a talent show, so she decides to play the drums. When her friend Francine rolls off the stage
into Olivia’s drum set, Olivia has to improvise and uses some trash cans. Olivia gets on stage and plays the trash cans
and sings and the crowd loves it.
Olivia
is a positive character who makes the best out of bad situation. The illustrations are bright and colorful and
appealing. My only issue with this book
is that if it’s a talent show, should anything Olivia makes up on stage really
be awesome and charming, or should the message be that if we work hard then we
can be rewarded when we share our talents.
