Klimo, Kate  The Dragon at the North Pole (The DragonKeepers #6) 176 pgs. Random House Books for Young Reader, 2013. $15.99

Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: G; Violence: G.

Emmy the dragon just knows it going to snow for Christmas, it has to so that Santa can make his appearance. But Jesse and Daisy have outgrown Santa and when they wake on Christmas morning Emma is gone! With a little help they are able to travel magically to the North Pole to find her. When they get there, the cousins meet Santa and are shocked and quite happy to find they were wrong about his existence. But they start to realize that something is wrong, will they be able to save not only Emmy, but our planet as well?

I am a bit leery about books that address the Santa belief. I don’t want to be a part of ruining anything, so I am very careful about this. The readers at my library for this series are about 3-4 grade, and some of them still believe. I flat out thought the plot was over the top full of too much magic and even nonsensical at the times. Despite this, I bought in, and really enjoyed reading it! I love all the history tidbits and the personality of the dragon. Students adore this series, but think about the Santa thing before you add this particular one.
