Fiona is so excited to be a part of the nutcracker. But her nerves are getting the better of her. She tries a variety of methods to overcome her problem and her nickname ‘Vomitstein’. When the big night arrives, she puts on her beautiful costume and heads out, but when Fiona’s dad needs her help, she must face her stage fright if she wants to save the day.
I liked this book, but I wished it was shorter. Each tactic to overcome stage fright is long, drawn out and overdetailed. For example, this was the case with the ‘imagine people in their underwear’. After a while, I started to feel as anxious as Fiona and would have referred her to the school counselor. I am sure many students face stage fright, but I wish the concept wasn't carried out to such an extent. I loved the ending, but felt like the underwear details and the level of continuous high anxiety would make it inappropriate for a school library.
