Divergent by Veronica Roth - ESSENTIAL

Roth, Veronica Divergent, 487 pgs. Katherine Tegen Books, 2011.  $17.99 Language-PG (9 swears), Sexual Content PG-13; Violence-PG-13; Beatrice's entire selfless life, that has always been filled with service and the idea that others come first, has led up to this moment, at sixteen, where this fateful choice will decide if she continues her life as it is now or if she will choose another faction and leave her parents.  (from Cindy - Each faction is dedicated to a separate virtue - honesty, selflessness, bravery, peace or intelligence).  Her choice will be even harder than everyone else because she is Divergent, and that is a very dangerous thing - being Divergent at this time where the Erudite are fed up with the Abnegation having all the power.  So when the faction that "Tris" chooses decides to go against every thing she has decided, will she and her newly found lover, Four, stand for what they think is right?  This book was thrillingly similar to the Hunger Games.  I fell in love with this book.  I love Tris and Four's relationship!  I felt that this book would be amazing to add to any one's collection!  This story is so incredible that there aren't words to sufficiently describe it! MS, HS - ESSENTIAL  Student Reviewer:  KU.
from Cindy - I thought this review was a nice counterpoint to the effusive praise.  This is definitely a book I will have to read for myself!
