Chloe Wang has parents with impossible standards. Marry a successful, rich, and, of course, Chinese man. But when her parents push her a little too hard into a relationship with a rich but rude and chauvinistic man, Chloe resorts to renting a boyfriend. That boyfriend is Drew, or Andrew as Chloe and her parents know him, from an organization that was built for having girls rent out a boyfriend that fit everything they needed to impress parents. But when the line between acting for the parents and to actually growing to love each other becomes thinner and thinner, Chloe will have to come clean to her parents, and to herself on what Drew really means to her.
Rent a Boyfriend is that fluffy romance novel that is nice for reading curled up next to the fire, with your hot chocolate. This book wasn't published for the plot or overall character development or amazing setting- it was published for the romance and dialogue. Albeit, it is a cute novel, but not something deep and meaningful, and my biggest complaint is the lack of characters, it's just Chloe, Drew and Chloe's parents! One thing I did like about it was the Chinese words embedded throughout the novel, along with the Chinese food and culture that was described and celebrated. Chloe and her parents are Chinese along with Drew.
