The Prom Goers Interstellar Excursion by Chris McCoy - ADVISABLE

McCoy, Chris The Prom Goers Interstellar Excursion,  294 pgs.  Alfred A. Knopf, 2015.  $17.99.  Language:  PG13 (21 swears, o “f”);  Mature content:  PG13;  Violence:  PG.

Bennett Bardo of Gordo, New Mexico is an 18 year old nerdy senior who gets his dream girl, Sophie to go to prom with him.   But then the unthinkable happens.  Aliens abduct Sophie.  Bennett has to choose to go to the prom dateless and explain Sophie’s disappearance or attempt finding her somewhere in the galaxy.   Luckily, the alien rock band Perfectly Reasonable comes to Bennett’s rescue while he is sitting in a fast food drive through.  Bennett travels through space on the Interstellar Libertine tour bus visiting otherworldly concert venues and experiencing various alien mishaps as he tries to rescue Sophie from the All Universe Nature Channel reality show.  Will Bennett rescue Sophie in time to attend prom?

This was a laugh out loud hilarious book with all kinds of  quirky characters and wildly crazy adventures as Bennett travels throughout the galaxy.  The author’s writing style is engaging and witty.  Who would not love a book that tells you the 4 factors needed to get abducted by aliens.  Drugs and alcohol are prevalent throughout the book so caution is advised.
