Farrell, Darren Stop Following Me, Moon! Dial Books for
Young Readers, 2016. $17.99. PICTURE BOOK. Content: G
A hungry bear forages for food amongst woods and
campgrounds, bothering and scaring everyone around him. Suddenly he realizes
he’s being followed—by the moon! The bear tries to run away but its only when
the moon disappears that he realizes how much he really wants and needs its
friendly light. The book’s story has little text and is mostly told through the
pictures. This makes it a difficult read-aloud for younger audiences as it
requires a good deal of explanation to try and create a semblance of story from
what is there. As an adult, I struggled to piece together what the actual point
of the story is. The pictures themselves are cute and the extra action in the
background of each scene will especially amuse older readers and adults.
