This book provide information about Snowy Owls while comparing it to a wide variety of other birds like the barn Owl, Roseate Spoonbills, and the Gyrfalcons. The facts about the cover bird are concentrated near the front of the book but as the compare and contrasts move forwards more facts are scattered throughout. Top notch choices for photos.
Like the rest of this series, its got great cover appeal but as soon as the comparisons start its very muddy. I am still of the opinion that this series just doesn’t work very well. I realize that there is a curricular requirement for compare and contrast but maybe this series would sit better if each book was titled just Stealthy Hunting Birds, then the readers wouldn’t have that expectation of understanding an one particular bird more than any another.
