Starworld is a land that survives off the power of good wishes of humans from Earth (Wishworld). Leona is a young girl who has been accepted to the Starling Academy, where she will be trained to grant wishes when she grows up. But right away she is assigned to a new experimental group called the Star Darlings, where 12 young trainees get a chance to grant wishes right away. Leona gets the call to go third and must travel to earth on shooting star in order to find the child that needs a wish granted, but she is very headstrong and self centered. Will she spend her time living out her own dreams or see through them to help a wisher?
I continue to like this series and think students will enjoy reading it. The featured Star Darling is on the cover with fabulous bright hair and sparkling skin, but if the reader opens the back cover, on the inside there is an illustration of how the star darling looks on Earth (Wishworld), since they are in disguise. I think students will love that. Continuing small mysteries and plot threads make this book interesting.
