What shapes and colors do you need to make a story come to life? This one starts with Circles and the color red, when you turn the page, cutouts of those shapes reveal apples. What shapes does it take to make a bird? Three white triangles and a red oval, turn the page and you find the cutouts area bird who will eat the worm from the apple. Each large page features shapes and colors to reveal parts of a very simple yet beautiful story about the reader and an apple tree and a bird to live there.
Ok, hands down this book is challenge to describe. Its more of an experience. It not only touches on shapes, making things with shapes, colors, but also seasons and the fall apple harvest (a big field trip at my school). It’s a completely fantastic read for Kindergarteners. Not only will teachers fight over this book, but its easy enough for a beginning reader to comprehend and fun to play with the sturdy well-constructed page. I can’t say enough wonderful things about this book.
