The Pages Between Us by Lindsey Leavitt and Robin Mellom –OPTIONAL

Leavitt, Lindsey and Mellom, Robin The Pages Between Us 268pgs Harper, 2016. $16.99 Content: Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: G Violence: G
This is a notebook between two 6th grade best friends, Piper and Olivia. Mostly its told in different fonts, but variations are ‘taped’ in like posters, assignments, and written in with doodles. Together they offer each other support and advice and decide explore the clubs that their school offers. As they discover their individual friends and interests they began to drift apart and both of them fight against it. Will their friendship survive middle school?
This book is wholesome and easy to read enough for 4th grade and up. Books like this are popular in the upper grade elementary as students are curious about middle school. I found myself mixing up the two characters as their voices are similar and the font changes are so often that I had trouble following who was who and who liked the main crush. Especially when they go back and forth editing a note to the boy, I was totally lost by the end of the book who liked him (and who he liked). Overall I didn’t enjoy reading this, it was a bit long, but it can’t hurt to add it your collection either.
