Saya is a little girl who misses her mother very much, especially her voice. Her mother is being held in an immigration detention center, and though they visit her its not enough. When her Mama begins sending Saya bedtime on tape, Saya writes her own story and it sets off a chain of events.
The illustrations are alive and filled with flowing movement. Its hard to read about a child who misses her mother so much. I think this book could be quite controversial depending on the atmosphere in the media and at your school on illegal immigration.
