Nichols, Lori Maple and
Willow Apart Nancy Paulsen Books, 2015
(Penguin). $16.99 PICTURE BOOK Content: G.
Maple has started kindergarten, so when her
little sister Willow is at home alone she has to use her imagination. Willow befriends an acorn, names him Pip and
has her own adventures with him. All the
while when Maple comes home from school she tells Willow all the fun she had at
school. By the end of the week, Maple
admits to Willow that she misses being home with her and Willow shares Pip so
Maple can take him to school with her.
This is a heartwarming look at what it’s like for siblings when they are
separated when school starts. The
illustrations are adorable and the characters are endearing. It has a great message and would be a good
way to help little ones explain their feelings about being separated from each
other.
