Fires of Invention by J. Scott Savage - ADVISABLE

Savage, J. Scott Fires of Invention (Mysteries of Cove), 288 pages.  Shadow Mountain, 2015.  $18.

Mature Content: G; Language: G; Violence: PG (fantasy violence).

In Trenton’s world you take the job that you are assigned at graduation and that’s what you will do for the rest of your life.  Trenton’s dream is to work the mechanics, because he can’t stop himself from working with machinery.  Instead, he is called to work in food production? What?!  Someone has sabotaged Trenton’s dreams.  Is it because he was caught inventing, something that is outlawed in his underground world?  Is it because he was seen with Kallista, the mysterious girl who lives hidden behind the walls of Cove?

Too much action to describe in one short review.  I like Trenton and Kallista very much.  Even though their current life-threatening situation was resolved, their whole civilization is left in a cliff-hanger, so I am assuming there are more books to come.  I love steampunk, personally, and Savage writes a great adventure.  And as the cover promises, there are dragons involved!

EL - OPTIONAL (it’s a lot of book); MS - ADVISABLE.
