This book has pictures of twenty-five
different unique animals and their quirky physical features. The format of the book is to ask the animal
why it has a certain feature: “Giraffe
why do you have a purple tongue?” and
then the animals explains in a concise paragraph why that special feature helps
the animal. Some of the animals
covered: puffer fish, filled lizard,
leaf-nosed bat, star-nosed mole, thorny devil and a blobfish.
The illustrations are fantastic, as Steve
Jenkins pictures usually are. The format
is a fun and fast way to learn interesting facts about different animals. My boys loved this book and it’s a great way
to get kids interested enough about the different animals to want to find more information.
