George, Jessica Day Tuesdays at the Castle, 254 p. Bloomsbury, 2011. $17. Language: G; Mature Content: G. Violence: PG (slaps, threats and such).
Princess Celie loves the Castle and it loves her right back. When her parents, the King and Queen, and her older brother are assumed to be assassinated, Celie and her two remaining siblings do everything can, with the Castle’s help, to fend off betrayal and treason from people they thought they could trust. Help comes in unexpected forms as the three fight not only for themselves and their kingdom, but for the very existence of the Castle itself.
Ms. George has come back to the thrilling fairytale style that made me fall in love with her first books. The Castle is a delight and I enjoy the portayals of the siblings, their allies and their enemies.
