The Adventures of Sir Gawain the True by Gerald Morris - ADVISABLE

Morris, Gerald. The Adventures of Sir Gawain the True, illustrated by Aaron Renier. 118 pgs. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2011. $14.99.

Content-G.

Best known for his Squire’s Tales series, author Gerald Morris writes a third book in the Knights’ Tales series for younger readers.

A mysterious Green Knight comes to the castle and tricks Sir Gawain into making a foolish vow. Sir Gawain seeks Merlin for wisdom and instead meets three different men who all teach him about manners and friendships. Sir Gawain the Undefeated saves a damsel from a dragon, but isn’t very polite and refuses her token.

A good book for boys who like might more than manners. The brush and ink illustrations are expressive and help tell the story.
