Watson, Geoff Edison’s Gold, 320 p. Egmont, 2010. $16. Tom Edison may be the last of the Edison name, but his family is poor as dirt and falling apart. Tom may be a great inventor, but he can’t keep himself focused long enough to actually finish everything – instead he just makes large messes that other people have to clean up. Now his family will be forced to move to Kansas, unless Tom and his friends can solve a decades old mystery – a secret message from his famous ancestor – and keep his family together. I just couldn’t quite get myself into this book far enough to fall in love. It has almost all of the perfect elements for a romp, but somewhere the heart is lacking. Tuck this one into a very active collection. EL – OPTIONAL. Cindy, Library Teacher.
